The PERFECT-3D engineering team uses special ceramic materials of silica, zircon, and alumina which have been optimized for ceramic 3D printing and investment casting applications. These 3D printing materials have proven to withstand high-temperatures with various applications.

Our industrial 3D printers use the latest in high-precision 3D printing technology to create small and large-scale ceramic components (ranging in size from 1” to 20”) with intricate features (as small as 0.020”).

The 3D printing process at PERFECT-3D involves finely controlled firing and sintering on every ceramic part; so that they are optimized to meet our customers’ specific needs.

Given the demands of ceramic 3D printing, our 3D printers use the latest additive manufacturing equipment to support advanced compliance-checking as well as reverse engineering.

Ceramic Cores

The designs of technical ceramic cores have grown increasingly complex in many aerospace and commercial casting applications. PERFECT-3D has the ability to rapidly produce some very challenging ceramic cores for use during the casting process; ranging from cores used to make complex cooling passages in airfoils, to cores used to make oil flow channels in large housings.

Our ceramic 3D printing service team has the ability to support complex casting processes that require the use of ceramic cores. Ceramic cores often cannot be made with traditional injection molding techniques. Our manufacturing process includes making cores hollow, which makes them easier to remove. In addition, our 3D printing process enables us to make passages in the cores that cannot be injected.

Ceramic Filters

With the need for controlled flow rates in castings, PERFECT-3D has developed patented techniques for the ceramic 3D printing of high-quality filters for pour cups and runners.

The precision of PERFECT-3D’s technical ceramic 3D printers enables very tight control of filter production, which results in greatly improved metal filtering. The filters typically range in size from 0.5″ gate filters to 5.0″ pour cup filters.

Ceramic Molds

Save production time with 3D printed ceramic products

There are many companies that need rapid and affordable casting molds. With the latest advances in 3D printers and additive manufacturing, PERFECT-3D has developed patent-pending techniques to directly 3D print ceramic molds for the casting of high-temperature nickel-based alloys as well as steel and aluminum.

This direct mold approach enables the foundry to bypass many of the front-end steps involved in the manufacture of castings, especially the lead time and cost to create the tooling for cores and wax patterns.

The image below shows examples of investment castings made from ceramic 3D printer molds, which enabled the delivery of the ceramic part in weeks instead of months.

Custom Solutions

PERFECT-3D has also created various custom ceramic solutions for customers. These applications range from process aids and kiln furniture for parts undergoing high-temperature firing to high-performance molds and accessories for powder metallurgy production.

Regardless of small or large-scale manufacturing processes, PERFECT-3D is able to handle various build volumes and post-processing procedures. Any questions? Contact us today!
